Abstract

This report uses the rock fabric method to construct a reservoir model of a Permian Basin Grayburg dolomite reservoir. Rock fabrics are related to porosity, permeability, and capillary pressure and are distributed within a sequence stratigraphic framework.

Abstract

The geometry of Permian bedded salt in the Midland Basin is a product of the interaction between depositional facies and postdepositional modification by salt dissolution. Interpretation of high-frequency cycle patterns in cross section and map view inferred from wireline logs documents the salt geometry. Geologically based interpretation of depositional and dissolution processes provides a powerful tool for mapping the geometry of salt to assess the suitability of sites for development of solution-mined storage caverns.

Abstract

Six interlocking regional stratigraphic cross sections of Lower Cretaceous strata (middle Albian-lower Cenomanian) of the Edwards and Stockton Plateaus of West Texas illustrate the vertical and lateral extent of lithostratigraphic units and distribution of facies and facies tracts. Facies maps, prepared along selected horizons and thought to represent a brief period of time, and maps illustrating features along critical stratigraphic boundaries are interpreted to illustrate paleoenvironmental distributions through time, as well as stratigraphic relationships.
