Quaternary faulting in East Texas Quaternary faulting in East Texas 1980

Three closely spaced oblique-slip faults displace a Quaternary gravel and sand unit overlying Eocene Claiborne strata in the Trinity River Valley, Leon County.

The Queen City Formation in the East Texas embayment: a developmental record of riverine, tidal and wave interaction The Queen City Formation in the East Texas embayment: a developmental record of riverine, tidal and wave interaction 1980

Five distinct facies are recognized in the Eocene Queen City exposures between the Trinity River valley and the Louisiana state boundary. These facies (fluvial, deltaic, tidal flat, barrier, and tidal delta) display diagnostic suites of physical and biogenic structures.

Geology and geohydrology of the east Texas basin -- a report on the progress of nuclear waste isolation feasibility studies (1979) Geology and geohydrology of the east Texas basin -- a report on the progress of nuclear waste isolation feasibility studies (1979) 1980

Analysis during the second year was highlighted by a historical characterization of East Texas Basin infilling, the development of a model to explain the growth history of the domes, the continued studies of the Quaternary in East Texas, and a better understanding of the near-dome and regional hy

Oakwood Salt Dome in Leon and Freestone Counties, East Texas, is under consideration as a nuclear waste repository.

Geology and geohydrology of the east Texas basin -- a report on the progress of nuclear waste isolation feasibility studies (1980) Geology and geohydrology of the east Texas basin -- a report on the progress of nuclear waste isolation feasibility studies (1980) 1981

The third year of research was highlighted by the integration of regional basinal studies with growth histories for specific domes, studies of cap-rock diagenesis and salt deformation, preliminary studies of ground-water flow and geochemistry around Oakwood Dome, and preliminary studies of micros

Surficial evidence of tectonic activity and erosion rates, Palestine, Keechi, and Oakwood salt domes, east Texas Surficial evidence of tectonic activity and erosion rates, Palestine, Keechi, and Oakwood salt domes, east Texas 1982

Surficial geologic investigations at Palestine, Keechi, and Oakwood salt domes have provided information necessary for evaluating these domes as nuclear waste repositories. Diapir growth uplifted sediments to form domes and created complex radial faulting.

Geology and geohydrology of the Palo Duro basin, Texas panhandle -- a report on the progress of nuclear waste isolation feasibility studies (1982) Geology and geohydrology of the Palo Duro basin, Texas panhandle -- a report on the progress of nuclear waste isolation feasibility studies (1982) 1983

Since early 1977, the Bureau of Economic Geology has been evaluating several salt-bearing basins within the State of Texas as part of the national nuclear waste repository program, The Bureau, a research unit of The University of Texas at Austin, is conducting a long-term program to gather and in

Styles of deformation in Permian strata, Texas panhandle Styles of deformation in Permian strata, Texas panhandle 1984

Permian strata in the Texas Panhandle exhibit a variety of deformation styles that are attributed to tectonic stresses as well as to collapse caused by evaporite dissolution. At Caprock Canyons State Park, deformation structures above salt dissolution zones include veins, faults, and folds.
