Collection of well samples by the Bureau of Economic Geology of The University of Texas commenced shortly after its establishment in 1909…The present index has been prepared as a reference for those interested in subsurface data in Texas. The objective always has been to secure a State-wide coverage of the stratigraphy and to provide a permanent repository for this valuable geological material…
The wells are listed by counties alphabetically and in each county are arranged alphabetically by company and, in turn, alphabetically by fee owner and numerically by well number of each fee owner. The index includes samples processed up to June 1, 1948. [Samples processed subsequent to this date can be viewed by contacting the Bureau’s Austin Research Center.]
