"This guidebook contains two parts: (1) a field trip road log with detailed stop descriptions and (2) articles on current research on the igneous geology of the Trans-Pecos region. The field trip deals with caldera structures, field relations of pyroclastic rocks, rheology of peralkaline ash-flow tuffs and lava flows, magma mixing within intrusions, and petrogenesis of silica-undersaturated and silica-oversaturated magmas. Articles cover these topics plus geochemical and petrologic aspects of igneous rocks in Trans-Pecos Texas and adjacent Mexico, geochronology of the region, and sedimentology of volcaniclastic rocks."
