About the Mineral Resource Survey Circular (MS) Series
Publications in the MS series are short reports of minerals and mineral industry research by Bureau staff, authorized by the Works Progress Administration (WPA), from 1936 to 1943. Most of the 57 reports in this series focus on the mineral resources of a specific Texas county in the late 1930s and early 1940s.

The initial report in this series, this document announces the program and explains the purpose of this research, which was to "assemble the information available to the public." It also summarizes work in progress on the mineral resources of selected Central Texas counties.
