Surficial evidence of tectonic activity and erosion rates, Palestine, Keechi, and Oakwood salt domes, east Texas Surficial evidence of tectonic activity and erosion rates, Palestine, Keechi, and Oakwood salt domes, east Texas 1982

Surficial geologic investigations at Palestine, Keechi, and Oakwood salt domes have provided information necessary for evaluating these domes as nuclear waste repositories. Diapir growth uplifted sediments to form domes and created complex radial faulting.

Structural cross sections, Tertiary formations, Texas Gulf Coast Structural cross sections, Tertiary formations, Texas Gulf Coast 1981

The publication comprises 24 structural dip cross sections, spaced 15 to 20 mi apart along the Texas coast, and 4 structural strike cross sections. Dip sections extend from near the Wilcox outcrop to the coastline.

Regional structural cross sections and general stratigraphy, east Texas basin Regional structural cross sections and general stratigraphy, east Texas basin 1981

Jurassic, Cretaceous, and Tertiary sediments in the East Texas Basin have been structurally modified by movement of Middle Jurassic Louann Salt.

Geology and geohydrology of the east Texas basin -- a report on the progress of nuclear waste isolation feasibility studies (1980) Geology and geohydrology of the east Texas basin -- a report on the progress of nuclear waste isolation feasibility studies (1980) 1981

The third year of research was highlighted by the integration of regional basinal studies with growth histories for specific domes, studies of cap-rock diagenesis and salt deformation, preliminary studies of ground-water flow and geochemistry around Oakwood Dome, and preliminary studies of micros

Quaternary faulting in East Texas Quaternary faulting in East Texas 1980

Three closely spaced oblique-slip faults displace a Quaternary gravel and sand unit overlying Eocene Claiborne strata in the Trinity River Valley, Leon County.

Depositional systems and hydrocarbon resource potential of the Pennsylvanian system, Palo Duro and Dalhart Basins, Texas panhandle Depositional systems and hydrocarbon resource potential of the Pennsylvanian system, Palo Duro and Dalhart Basins, Texas panhandle 1980

Pennsylvanian clastic and carbonate strata were deposited in a variety of environments within the Palo Duro Basin. Maximum accumulation (totaling 750 m or 2,400 ft) occurred along a northwest-southeast axis.

Facies patterns and depositional history of a Permian Sabkha complex -- Red Cave Formation, Texas panhandle Facies patterns and depositional history of a Permian Sabkha complex -- Red Cave Formation, Texas panhandle 1980

The Red Cave Formation (Permian, Leonard Series) in the Texas Panhandle consists of cyclic, red-bed clastic and carbonate-evaporite members that reflect deposition in extensive coastal sabkhas.

Geology and geohydrology of the east Texas basin -- a report on the progress of nuclear waste isolation feasibility studies (1979) Geology and geohydrology of the east Texas basin -- a report on the progress of nuclear waste isolation feasibility studies (1979) 1980

Analysis during the second year was highlighted by a historical characterization of East Texas Basin infilling, the development of a model to explain the growth history of the domes, the continued studies of the Quaternary in East Texas, and a better understanding of the near-dome and regional hy

Environmental geology of the Wilcox Group lignite belt, east Texas Environmental geology of the Wilcox Group lignite belt, east Texas 1979

This report provides a data base for decisions about lignite mining and reclamation in the Wilcox Group of East Texas. Kaiser (1974, 1978) estimates that about 12.2 billion short tons of potentially strip-minable lignite resources occur in East and South Texas.

Proceedings, Gulf Coast Lignite Conference: Geology, Utilization, and Environmental Aspects Proceedings, Gulf Coast Lignite Conference: Geology, Utilization, and Environmental Aspects 1978

Papers in this volume were presented at the Gulf Coast Lignite Conference held in Austin, Texas, June 1976.
Papers were edited, in some cases extensively, and subjectively grouped by discipline, paralleling that of their presentation at the Conference.
