Estimation of coal resources in Texas Gulf Coast, Ohio northern Appalachian, and Wyoming Powder River Basins: a comparison of statistical approaches Estimation of coal resources in Texas Gulf Coast, Ohio northern Appalachian, and Wyoming Powder River Basins: a comparison of statistical approaches 1983

Official estimates of United States coal resources published during the past 15 years vary from less than 1.5 to 3.5 trillion metric tons (1.7 to 3.9 trillion short tons). These differences imply that a high degree of uncertainty exists in resource assessment.

Regional aquifer characterization for deep-basin lignite mining, Sabine uplift area, northeast Texas Regional aquifer characterization for deep-basin lignite mining, Sabine uplift area, northeast Texas 1983

Lignite deeper than 200 ft (61 m) constitutes about 60 percent of the total lignite resources in Texas. Projections indicate that meeting future demand will require mining this deep-basin lignite.

Catahoula Formation of the Texas coastal plain: origin, geochemical evolution, and characteristics of uranium deposits Catahoula Formation of the Texas coastal plain: origin, geochemical evolution, and characteristics of uranium deposits 1980

The Catahoula Formation is composed of ancient fluvial sediments that controlled a wide range of water/sediment interactions responsible for uranium mobilization, transportation, and concentration.

Lignite resources in Texas Lignite resources in Texas 1980

Texas lignite occurs in three Eocene (lower Tertiary) geologic units--the Wilcox Group, Jackson Group, and Yegua Formation--and in three ancient depositional systems--fluvial, deltaic, and strandplain/lagoonal.

Electric Power Generation from Texas Lignite Electric Power Generation from Texas Lignite 1978

Lignite is a rediscovered energy in Texas because lignite-produced energy is 3 to 7 times cheaper than intrastate natural gas. Production has risen from 18,000 short tons in 1950 to 14 million tons in 1976 and will exceed 50 million tons by 1985.

Sand-body geometry and the occurrence of lignite in the Eocene of Texas Sand-body geometry and the occurrence of lignite in the Eocene of Texas 1978

Lignite occurs in three Eocene stratigraphic units--the Wilcox Group, Yegua Formation, and Jackson Group--and in three ancient depositional systems-fluvial, deltaic, and strandplain/lagoonal.

Proceedings, Gulf Coast Lignite Conference: Geology, Utilization, and Environmental Aspects Proceedings, Gulf Coast Lignite Conference: Geology, Utilization, and Environmental Aspects 1978

Papers in this volume were presented at the Gulf Coast Lignite Conference held in Austin, Texas, June 1976.
Papers were edited, in some cases extensively, and subjectively grouped by discipline, paralleling that of their presentation at the Conference.

Calvert Bluff (Wilcox Group) sedimentation and the occurrence of lignite at Alcoa and Butler, Texas 1976

In east-central Texas, or the area between the Colorado
and Trinity Rivers, the Wilcox Group (lower Eocene) is divided
into three formations. Up section they are the Hooper,
Simsboro, and Calvert Bluff. At Alcoa and Butler, lower Calvert

Reclamation at Big Brown Steam Electric Station Near Fairfield, Texas: Geologic and Hydrologic Setting 1976

Lignite deposits in Texas occur in three Eocene stratigraphic units: the Wilcox Group (lower Eocene), the Yegua Formation (upper Eocene), and the Jackson Group (upper Eocene).
